Wait to Text: Teresa Labarbera at Shakers Kia promoting safe driving

W82TXT Channel 8 News Community Awareness Campaign

Last week I wrote a post talking about the dangers of texting and driving. This week Corey Shaker, co-owner of Shaker's KIA and the Shaker Auto Group, went live on Channel 8 News with Teresa Labarbera to help create awareness throughout Connecticut. "W82TXT (Wait to Text) is a community awareness campaign, to encourage drivers not to text while behind the wheel. News 8 is handing out red thumb bands, with the W82TXT message. The bands are designed to remind people, not to text while driving."

Corey Shaker is a volunteer firefighter for the Woodbury Fire Department and has seen to many accidents caused by texting and driving. The department dreads getting that phone call to respond to an accident for a young driver who just couldn't wait to send or read a text and by promoting this cause they hope to help save lives.
